Lumar Vargas

lumar-vargasDirector of Adult Ed. & Small Groups Ministry | email | X163

Lumar directs the Small Groups Ministry by equipping and coaching leaders and providing outreach initiatives for the Spanish community through Aviva, our Spanish Fellowship.

Lumar completed the Principal Licensure Program at Indiana Wesleyan University and holds a master's degree in Educational Administration, a bachelor's degree in English/Language Arts Education from Cleveland State University. She has an Ohio teaching license and educational leadership/principal license.

Before her call to vocational ministry, Lumar was an English/Language Arts middle school and high school teacher for 8 years and has been a guest speaker at churches throughout the U.S. and internationally. In her ministry role at Grace, Lumar most enjoys networking and connecting people and seeing them grow in their spiritual calling. She has a passion for depth of knowledge and helping people move from knowing God’s Word to evaluating and applying it, until the Word is alive and active in their lives.

Originally from Chicago, Lumar grew up on the west side of Cleveland, where she and Emanuel met while in middle school. They now call Strongsville home. In her free time, she loves traveling, new projects, and playing box drum at Grace. When she’s not at Grace, you might find her having quiet time with her cat (Cupcake Vargas) not far away, or enjoying Spanish food and laughter with her family.
