Isaiah (starts Jan 6) Carol Bozic

Isaiah the prophet proclaimed the voice of The LORD through his prophecies. We are now studying the period known as the “Babylon Exile” given by Isaiah some 150 years prior to the actual event. Then moving forward through the prophecy of the LORD’s servant (Christ) foretold, fulfilled and the future glory yet to come. So much more than history, it gives us deeper insight into our LORD, proclaiming His power, sovereignty, majesty, love and unrelenting patience. Words inspired by the Holy Spirit through Isaiah and preserved for us today. Join us as we increase our faith, strengthen our hope, inspire love, and enlarge our understanding through reading, digesting and discussing what is known as “the Bible within the Bible.”  This class runs from Jan 6 - May 19.

C.S. Lewis' masterpiece, The Screwtape Letters, “is one of the most engaging accounts of temptation - and triumph over it - ever written. Wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original.”  During the week participants will listen to the audio dramatization of this classic (requires internet access), then we'll discuss the chapters in class through probing questions. Through open discussion, class participants will share perspectives and where/how we saw ourselves as targets of the like of Screwtape and Wormwood.  You'll really enjoy this journey into Lewis' creative mind of how Satan works on us in every attempt to steer us from Jesus, the one true Lord.

The Four Gospels had four target audiences. Matthew’s audience was Israel, the Jewish nation. His goal was to present Jesus as the Messiah of Israel as foretold by the prophets. There are two portraits of the Messiah in Scripture—the “Conquering King” and the “Suffering Servant.”  This Gospel shows how Jesus alone fulfills these pictures. Matthew more than any other Gospel covers the promises of the Second Coming and the role of the Church.

In this class we will examine the theology and application of our position as believers in this world as well as examine Jesus through the eyes of Matthew:

  • How Jesus is the rightful King of Israel, the Son of David, the Messiah.
  • Why the Jewish leadership rejected Jesus
  • How Jesus handed the responsibility of the Kingdom to the Church
  • What events will lead to His Second Coming
  • The promises and position of the believer in the Kingdom of God

Chances are, you’ve heard that at least once in your life. It can be a very tough conversation to have. I’ve found that there are typically 3 reasons why people are atheists. I know this, because I used to be one. Come learn how to do what 1 Peter 3:15 says, “to be always prepared to give an answer.” We will try to understand why people choose atheism, what arguments they will usually present, and how to respond intelligently and respectfully. We’ll do some real practicing so you feel better prepared when the situation occurs. Most importantly, we’ll pray for the people God has brought into our lives that He may be the One answering their questions.

He shows that when God changes your heart from selfishness to generosity, every part of your life-journey is affected. “There is no greater adventure on Earth than simply living the life of generosity and abundance that is available to all of God's people--but so few ever dare to live,” says Pastor Robert. “It is a journey of reward. Habits are a powerful thing. They can set a person up for greatness or for failure. What exactly is a habit? It is a personal activity you don’t have to think about, an action you do automatically. Everyone has habits or routines. Habits are created and become part of our life until something changes. In Joshua 1:8, God promises success to those who have the right habits.

Habits are not only actions we choose to do, but actions we cannot stop. Habits become part of our brain physiology. Understanding the process of habits allows us to harness this power to our benefit. You can tap this powerful force to transform your life and influence those around you. In this class, you will learn 1) How to identify and change bad habits and 2) How to transform yourself spiritually, emotionally and physically.
